Indian rural Christian mission was registered in 1985 under the Tamilnadu societies act 1975 (act 27 of 1975) by the handful of the committed and likeminded people who had served for the marginalized. The objects were spiritual and community development programmes.The registration number is 300/85. In 1991, the members felt instead of keeping two aims, decided to keep only one aim that is to carry out social service activities for the welfare of the poor. And then Indian rural Christian Mission name had changed as TAMBARAM COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT SOCIETY and registered.
TCDS also registered with Ministry of Home Affairs New Delhi to receive foreign contribution under foreign contribution act 1976. TCDS obtained FCRA 078520172 from MHA.
All donations made to TCDS are Tax exempted under Section80 (G) of the Income Tax Act of 1961.
